在Windows Server官方博客中微軟表示:“作為Windows 7的服務器版本,Windows Server 2008 R2和Windows 7擁有相同的RTM和GA日期.”
微軟進一步明確稱,Windows Server 2008 R2的RTM版本會在7月下旬提供給微軟合作伙伴,其公開發售日期和Windows 7一樣為10月22日.
